Country music artist Chris Young was booked in a Nashville bar for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer

Country music star Chris Young was arrested on Monday night in Nashville, Tennessee, on charges that include assaulting an officer. According to court documents and jail information, Young faces charges of assault of an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

The incident took place at a bar near the Country Music Hall of Fame and Broadway nightlife district in Nashville. The arrest affidavits state that Young allegedly assaulted Joseph T Phillips, an agent with Tennessee’s Alcohol Beverage Commission, who was conducting routine compliance checks at local bars.

The altercation began at Tin Roof around 8:30 p.m., where Young had his ID checked and then started recording the agents on video. The agents proceeded to the DawgHouse bar next door, with Young and his friends allegedly following them. Phillips reported that Young tried to prevent him from leaving, put his hands out, and struck the agent on the shoulder. When Phillips pushed Young to create distance, patrons of the bar got involved, creating a hostile situation.

Amid the chaos, two agents handcuffed Young, who exhibited bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He was subsequently arrested and booked into jail just after 10 p.m. Young, a well-known figure in the country music scene, now faces legal consequences for the alleged assault of an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The incident has drawn attention to the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in ensuring compliance during routine checks and the potential for altercations in public spaces.
