Remembering a Softball Legend
Ronnie Comeau, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer. Born on November 4, 1951, in Loggieville, Ronnie’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and a passion for the game of softball. Growing up as the fifth of six siblings in Loggieville, Ronnie embraced a childhood filled with play and adventure. His love for sports, including football, softball, horseshoes, and hockey, was a family affair, with his brothers and local friends serving as teammates. Ronnie shared a special bond with his older brother Roger, collaborating on various projects that would shape their childhood and remain lifelong memories. In 1974, Ronnie found his perfect pitch when he married the love of his life, Karen. Their union spanned 49 years, marked by a partnership that mirrored the teamwork seen on the softball field. Together, they built a winning team by raising a family and becoming adoring grandparents.
A Work Ethic and Legacy
Ronnie’s life was marked by hard work and dedication. Graduating from Harkins High School in 1969, he pursued a trade in Refrigeration in Bathurst and later studied pre-tech in Moncton Tech. His professional journey led him to a 21-year tenure at CFB Chatham and another 17 years at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Ronnie’s strong work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues made him a beloved figure in both workplaces. A true Loggieviller at heart, Ronnie found joy in the simplicity of life. From his workshop to the softball field, he immersed himself in projects and activities that brought him happiness. The family home, a testament to his craftsmanship, was a hub of warmth and love. Daily walks with his wife, Karen, and their faithful dog, Gus, became cherished routines.
