Barbara Lee Clarke Obituary, Death – Barbara Lee Clarke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away peacefully at her home in Long Creek, OR, on January 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Long Creek, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Fox Cemetery, with a reception/dinner to follow at the church, where friends are invited to join the family in remembrance and celebration of Barbara’s life.
Early Life and Marriage:
Barbara Lee Clarke was born on April 10, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, to Bill and Elaine Poston. On October 29, 1957, she married the love of her life, Joe Clarke, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was one of love, devotion, and mutual support, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them. Throughout her lifetime, Barbara was deeply involved in her community and dedicated to public service. She worked as a highway inspector for the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), where her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence earned her the respect of her colleagues and peers.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Barbara also served as the Mayor of Long Creek, where she tirelessly advocated for the needs of her fellow citizens and worked to make her community a better place for all who lived there. Her leadership, compassion, and dedication left an indelible mark on the town she called home.
