Don is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Judith Ayres Gay of Cragford. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Don’s love extended to his five children: Cindy Cleveland (David), Stacey Fowler, Mary Clancy Hilyer (Jon), Chris Gay (Nikki), and John Gay (Holly). He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always there to offer guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love. Don was also a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and affection.

Born on April 2, 1944, in Randolph County, Don was the son of Bruce and Dorothy Johnson Gay.
