Jason Amore Obituary, Death Cause – Jason Anthony Amore, a beloved resident of Allegany, left this world on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, following a brief illness. Born on August 31, 1975, to Dennis J. and Rebecca Stayer Amore, Jason’s life was a testament to passion, achievement, and love. Jason’s journey began at Friendship Central School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. His prowess on the basketball court, scoring over 2000 points, and his ability to hit baseballs out of the park effortlessly, earned him a place in the Allegany County Sports Hall of Fame and the Section V Athletic Hall of Fame.
An Academic and Athletic Star
After graduating in 1993, Jason pursued higher education at Alfred University, where he not only earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees but also left an indelible mark on the basketball court. As captain of the basketball team for three years, he led them to the 1997 NCAA Division III tournament, leaving a legacy by scoring over 1,000 points. His exceptional athletic achievements earned him a place in the Saxon’s Hall of Fame.
A Career in Advancement
Jason dedicated over 20 years to the field of advancement, working for various universities. Notably, at the University of Louisville, he played a pivotal role in a billion-dollar capital campaign and oversaw the closing of more than $230 million in major gifts. His tenure at Alfred University saw a significant increase in the annual rate of giving, with $36 million secured in major gifts. His contributions at Fairleigh Dickinson University resulted in landing some of the largest gifts in the school’s history to support student initiatives.
A Dream Realized at St. Bonaventure University
Jason’s passion for advancement led him to his dream job as the vice president for university advancement at St. Bonaventure University. His enthusiasm and determination were unmatched, and he eagerly anticipated being part of the university where he shared countless cherished memories with his father at basketball games.
A Devoted Father
Above all, Jason cherished his role as a father to his two children, Julian and Adelynn. He took immense pride in coaching Julian’s basketball team, passing down his love for the sport. He cheered from the sidelines as Julian played soccer and beamed with pride watching Adelynn excel in gymnastics, winning numerous medals. Julian and Adelynn were his world, his pride, and his joy.

Jason leaves behind a heartbroken family who will forever cherish the memories they shared. He is survived by his mother, Becky (Pat Foley) Amore; his children, Julian and Adelynn; his siblings, Tiffany and husband Rich Ellis, and children Haley, Hannah, and Tim; his brother, Ed and wife Dani, and daughter Anna. He also leaves behind his godmother, Chris; uncle, Jeff Mason; godfather, Dan Gleason; aunts and uncles, Steve and Janice Stayer, Marcia Stayer, Joe and Sue Amore, and Mike and Gerda Amore; and many cousins. He is also survived by Julian and Adelynn’s mother, Kara.
