Robert Filut Obituary, Death – In the serene town of New Braunfels, Texas, a cherished soul, Robert Anthony Filut, bid farewell to this world on February 2nd, 2024, at the age of 69, after a brief and valiant battle with advanced pancreatic cancer. Born on October 12th, 1954, in Mission, Texas, to Richard and Viola Filut, Robert’s journey was marked by love, family, and a profound connection to the great outdoors. Robert’s high school days at Sharyland High School not only shaped his education but also laid the foundation for a timeless love story. It was here that he met Shirley Ann Filut, the love of his life.

Their union brought forth a beautiful family, filled with love, laughter, and shared moments. After Shirley’s passing in 1998, life took another turn, and Robert found love again with his best friend, Jenel Keys. Their marriage continued to enrich Robert’s life until Jenel’s passing in 2019. Robert Filut’s legacy is woven into the lives of his surviving children and their spouses: Jason (Lisa) Filut, Katherine (Nathan) Pipoly, Justin (Melanie) Keys, Tracy (Cheryl) Keys. The circle of family extended to his beloved grandchildren, Grace, Isabella, Samantha, Robert, Noah, Kalee, Eli, and Ryan. Despite experiencing the pain of loss, Robert’s enduring spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to call him father and grandfather.

Robert had an aversion to modern technology, finding solace and joy in the simplicity of life. His true happy place was outdoors, particularly on a tractor, where he could share his wisdom and life lessons with his grandchildren. Robert’s passion for the land and his desire to impart valuable insights marked him as not just a loving patriarch but also a patient and inspiring teacher. As the community mourns the loss of this extraordinary man, the Filut family invites friends and well-wishers to pay their respects at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, TX, during the visitation hours from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 8th, 2024.

A solemn service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McAllen, TX, at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 9th, 2024. The journey concludes with graveside services at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Taylor Road. In lieu of flowers, the Filut family kindly requests memorial gifts in Robert’s honor to support cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This gesture reflects Robert’s spirit of giving and his desire to contribute to the ongoing battle against the disease that touched his life. As the Filut family navigates the waves of grief, the community rallies around them, offering solace, support, and fond memories of a man whose legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those he loved. May Robert Anthony Filut rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the arms of Jesus.
