In September 1949, Betty embarked on the path to become an educator, enrolling at Outagamie Rural Normal School. There, she formed lifelong friendships, establishing the foundation for a fulfilling career in teaching.

Betty’s heart waited for the return of her true love, Alvin, from Germany. They exchanged vows at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville in August 1953, marking the beginning of a blessed union that spanned 57 years until Alvin’s passing. Their marriage brought forth five children, and Betty dedicated her teaching career to instilling knowledge and values in young minds.

Betty’s teaching journey took her to various one-room schoolhouses in Dale, including Clover Leaf, Hickory Grove, Happy Valley, Sunny View, and Cedar Grove. She later taught at Hortonville Elementary, St. Thomas More in Appleton, and Holy Rosary in Kewaunee, concluding her illustrious career at Most Precious Blood in New London. Betty is survived by her three daughters, Valerie (Dan) Peeters, Victoria (Scott) Nelson, and Veronica (Steve) Koske, along with daughter-in-law Lanette Friemark. Her ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy for Betty. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family.

The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Betty’s well-lived life will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London, with Fr. John Kleinschmdt officiating. Prior visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Betty’s final resting place is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Town of Dale.
